Ah, matey! Dredged up something from the bottom of the ocean have we? After the salt firing, some of the thinner threads of slip-coated fiberglass either burnt, melted, or dissolved away. Worth trying again? Definitely.
oh AWESOME! We have to go to the art building this weekend so I can see how all the rest turned out. :) I really do love the look of that mug... de la profundidades de la Mar. (from the depths of the sea - Spanish) "Mar" is one of my favorite Spanish words... I love way it roles off my tongue. I wrote "la Mar" ("la" means that the word following it is feminine; "el" is masculine) and capitalized it (not supposed to be capitalized) because of something I read in Hemingway's book, The Old Man and the Sea (takes place in Havana, Cuba - my favorite city). The old man was talking to the sea, or ruminating about it... that those fishermen who really loved the sea called it or referred to it as "Her", a beloved woman... those who did not know or respect or love her, referred to the sea as "el mar", more distant and removed. Although... I was just thinking... all the fishermen were MEN... and I'm not a man. So perhaps calling la mar el mar would make more sense? grins What think you? ;) All righty then, off to pour myself another cup of Darjeeling and head off to clean Barb's house. Ciao Guapo. :)
